Dual Screen Portable DVD Players

Portable Disney DVD player will only play/recognize CD's.?

We recently bought a portable dual screen Disney dvd player off ebay and it will only recognize and play CD's. When you put a dvd in, it just scans and scans endlessly, but never brings up a menu. I used a lens cleaning disc, didn't work; left it on for two hours in case of moisture problem, didn't work. Wondering if this was a common problem with an easy fix.
